Overview
I interned on the thermals team for industrial energy storage and worked on Megapack design. My work included detailed design of coolant manifolding, modelling pressure drop of our coolant loop and designing sheet metal components. Some skills I learned & used: CAD and PLM in 3DExperience CATIA, modelling in MATLAB and generally a design for manufacturing mindset.
I don't have any fancy photos of my work of course, these are from the internet/my personal experience.
Results
- Progression on detailed design of manifolding for easier assembly, testability and slightly lowered manufacturing cost
- Improvement to sheet metal tray by consolidating parts and fasteners and improving access and clearances
- Found and fixed critical errors in coolant modelling, validated changes against established software
